Ricardo Azziz, MD, MPH, MBA.

An educator-scientist-physician-executive with over 25 years of leadership experience in higher education, research, and academic healthcare.

Previously served as Chief Officer of Academic Health and Hospital Affairs for the State University of New York (SUNY) System Administration, providing support, strategic guidance, and advocacy for the educational, research and clinical programs, representing a nearly $4 billion budget.

Also served as president of the Georgia Health Sciences University (GHSU) and founding CEO of the Georgia Regents Health System (now Augusta University Health System).

Led the successful consolidation of GHSU and Augusta State University to create Georgia Regents University (now Augusta University), where he went on to serve as its founding president, managing a greater than $1.2 billion budget.

Among other executive positions, he has served as CEO of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.

He is a leader in change management, in higher education, and is co-author of ‘Strategic Mergers in Higher Education’ (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2019).

He serves as Principal, Strategic Partnerships in Higher Education (SPH) Consulting Group.

He serves on the faculties of the University at Albany at SUNY and the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and is a Fellow of the Rockefeller Institute for Government.
